Wendi J. Nance is the current National Development Officer with the National Brain Tumor Society. She is the former Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations at the University of South Carolina and CEO of the YWCA of the Midlands in Columbia, South Carolina. Wendi has an extensive background in philanthropy and has demonstrated strong leadership in women and girls’ empowerment, access to education and the elimination of health disparities. Wendi was a professional ballerina. She performs with the Columbia City Ballet and serves as a choreographer for ballet and contemporary dance companies.
Wendi has been an active board volunteer with the Richland Memorial Hospital-Palmetto Health, Richland County Public Library, Palmetto Health Children’s Hospital, Nickelodeon Theatre and the City of Columbia’s Accommodations Tax Committee.
Wendi was named “Woman of the Year” by the Professional and Business Women’s Association and received the Urban League’s highest honor, The Lincoln C. Jenkins Community Service Award for her dedication to teaching children in the performing arts. In March 2006, Wendi was honored with the “Living Legacy Award” by the National Council of Negro Women. She is a community ambassador for the Red Dress Campaign supporting women’s heart disease and health initiatives.
